January 25, 2012

Brethren! I hope January was an enjoyable month for you and your families and I truly hope that February is even better!

Congratulations to our newest Master Mason, Bro. John Mark Clement who received this degree on January 17th, 2012. There were 38 Master Masons including visitors from Hendersonville Lodge, Palmyra Lodge and Clarksville No. 89 in attendance to witness this significant event and enjoy a spectacular Lasagna Dinner put together by our Junior Warden, Cindy Slater, “Granny” Bradshaw and Kecia Davis. The proceeds received from the “money basket” put $66.00 towards the Lodge Bible Fund.

Although January was a busy month for the Lodge, February is already projected to be a much busier month than January was. We received four new petitions for the three degrees at our last stated meeting and a request for Dual Membership. If all goes well we will have a month packed with Degree work (February 16th & February 21st and both are Past Master Nights). The Junior Warden has a Homemade Soup/Stew Dinner scheduled for the 16th and Homemade Chili Dinner for the 21st. I hope your schedule permits attendance.

Bro. McIntosh, as Education Committee Chairman is always looking for those Master Masons that would like to give a 15-minute short talk on a Masonic topic. If you are interested in giving a short presentation then let me know and I will pass the message or come by the Lodge during a stated meeting or on an Education Open Discussion night and meet with Bro. McIntosh. Bro. Aric Storck gave the Lodge a 15 minute though provoking presentation on “What it Means to Be Brought to Light”. Congratulations are in order for Bro. Nick Sharp and Bro. Dan Lautrup who each received Vision 2013 Education Certificates for their presentations on “Saint John the Evangelist” and “Prince Hall Masonry” respectively. At our February stated meeting, Bro. Gary Cunningham is scheduled to give us a presentation on “Bro. Harry S. Truman”.

Since February is scheduled to have several potential EA Degrees, any Tuesday and Thursday training focus for February will be on the EA work. For some that may not have attended in a while, this is a good opportunity to refresh your memory.

Hope to see you on Saturday, February 4th for our monthly Lodge Breakfast. Our January breakfast was a packed house. So packed it was difficult for me to find a chair to sit down. Most important is that all proceeds for this breakfast go to our Larry C. Alford II Scholarship Fund.

The application for the Larry C. Alford II Scholarship is available for download from the Lodge website as well as available through the Secretary’s Office or Scholarship Committee Chairman – Bro. Dale Crawford. The suspense date for submission is March 1, 2012 with a presentation date to the recipient at the April Lodge breakfast on April 7, 2012. If you are aware of a Clarksville-Montgomery County Public School H.S. senior intending to attend college upon graduation – please ensure they know about this scholarship.

Attention Past Masters: I have in the Secretary’s office, applications for the Middle Tennessee Past Masters Association. The Annual Meeting is scheduled for February 4, 2012 at 9:00 am in Mount Juliet, TN. Contact me at secretary@queencitylodge.org if you would like to review this information.

Some of you may have an email address that I may not have. If you have an email address and have not received an email from me within the past several days – please send me an email at secretary@queencitylodge.org and I will ensure that you are added to the email distribution list. I send frequent reminders of Lodge activity so if you wish to be reminded – make sure I have an email address. Email sure helps on postage costs!

Don’t forget, the Lodge offers Lodge Shirts ($35), Lodge Jackets ($100), and Brick sales ($50) with all proceeds going towards this Building Fund.

RAINBOW GIRLS

I have coordinated with Tracey Voight, Mother Adviser of our Clarksville Assembly #126 (Rainbow Girls) to provide information for this Newsletter. As anticipated, these young ladies stay pretty busy as well and I thought it would be a good idea to add their activities to the calendar. NOTE:  All Master Masons, Eastern Star members, parents, and grandparents of active Rainbow girls are welcome to attend any of their functions. Please contact Tracey if you have any questions regarding the Rainbow Activities or desire to attend their Royal Tea Party event. If you have daughters, granddaughters or even great granddaughters between the ages of 12-20 we would be happy to have them join our Assembly.  For more information please visit the state website www.TNIORG.org.  For a petition or to ask other questions, please feel free to contact Tracey Voight, Mother Advisor, at 931-249-1258.

On February 18, 2012   (Saturday), I am coordinating for a tour of the Grand Lodge for those of you that are interested. Some of us have never seen the inside. More information regarding this tour will follow.

We are now working collectively with Clarksville Lodge No. 89 in the spirit of teamwork on a Community Service project. At the time of printing we will have already completed the first scheduled day of this project (January 28). This project is an area beautification project that encompasses removing debris along Madison (vicinity the new Publix) to Richview Road and we are scheduled for the whole year. Detailed information will be provided to all for the May, Aug, and November clean-ups. You can access the website for more details and obtain the “release forms” necessary to be signed if you wish to volunteer your time. Yes, this is also open to minors between the ages of 12 – 18.

Lastly, I need to remind those that have not paid their 2012 Dues that you remit payment immediately! If you have already forwarded your payment this reminder does not apply to you. I am available in the Lodge most evenings for this purpose or you can mail your payment to:

Queen City Lodge No. 761
PO Box 761

Until Next Month!
